Dom Silvério, one of the most traditional theatres of Belo Horizonte, was inaugurated in 1995. On a classical architectural location, from the beginnings of the XX century, it is a charming and inviting place to go and watch a theatrical play or even a small musical show. As the cultural reference in town, Dom Silvério is the stage of highly praised theatre, musical, and dancing presentations, with great theatre plays stared by important Brazilian actors: Débora Falabella, Letícia Sabatela, and Fernanda Montenegro, and great musicians: Jorge Dexler, and Danilo Caymmi. Important events were also presented in the house, such as, The IBM International Concerts, The International Theatre Festival, and The World’s Circus Festival. Integrated to Chevrolet Hall, the Theatre counts with a completely informatized ticket office, with online and phone sales, parking lot for the public and access for people with special needs. Beginning in 2006, with the objective to boost the cultural production in town, Dom Silvério will become the stage not only for artistic performances, but will also be the stage for the research and construction of diverse art expressions. The Theatre offers its infrastructure to local artists so they can put their shows together and also rehearse it. The objective is to enable these groups to give continuity to their artistic researches, which we find fundamental for the creation of new shows. By welcoming local artists, Dom Silvério Theatre and Chevrolet Hall shows the respect we have for our culture and our commitment with the arts.
